Weekend Barbecue Guide

The weather’s getting warmer and I’m done with school, which means it’s finally BBQ season! Here is a comprehensive guide to a somewhat simple weekend barbeque. Like most food creators, I’m guilty of saying a recipe is easy when it’s 20 steps and four hours, so I’m gonna be real. This is a four-hour project that will require a lot of dishes. The good news is that the recipes are forgiving, pretty hard to mess up, and don’t take a lot of skill to complete! And the ribs are DELICIOUS., they’re what I’m most excited for you guys to try.

On a personal note I am also doing another popup. Bostonians; mark your calendars for May 18th! I am popping up selling dense bean salads at Le Rosier Cafe on Newbury st. Here is the signup link to be alerted when pre-orders go live. I can’t wait to see you guys there!

This guide is is perfect for a 6-8 person bbq and consists of …

Apps: Whipped Honey Butter with BBQ Bread. Whipped butter is my new obsession. It’s butter but elevated in flavor and easier to spread. This version mixes browned butter and honey into salty perfection. I serve it with BBQ bread, which I don’t have a recipe for. You slice the bread thickly and grill it for a few seconds. It’s very easy.

Main: Smokey Honey Mustard Short Ribs. The spicy ribs are slow-cooked in a wet rub on the grill. Then, my secret for the juiciest, most flavorful ribs is a sweet buttery glaze you brush on after cooking.

Sides: A corn-dense bean salad: It wouldn’t be a party by me if there weren’t dense bean salad on the menu, this was part of last week’s newsletter too! Dijonayo coleslaw: anyone else here who is a Molly Baz fan knows she recently launched her own mayo line, AYOH. I immediately purchased it, and I’m obsessed with the Dijonayo. I used it to make this coleslaw and it’s insane. I’ll link here if, for anyone who wants to try, I can’t recommend it enough. She also seems like the sweetest person, and I’m a huge fan. I also served this with some canned baked beans I just warmed up on the stove.

Order of Operations: I started with the ribs, got those on the grill along with the corn for the salad, then did the dense bean salad, the coleslaw, prepped the rib glaze, sliced the bread to go on the grill with the ribs for finishing, put the baked beans on the stove, prepped the butter while my husband finished the ribs, let the ribs rest while I plated everything, then finished by glazing the ribs!

This was my stunning plate

Recipes are below. I hope you guys enjoy with good company!
