Bachelorette Recap📍 Stowe, Vermont
🍂Weekend bachelorette trip details and a delicious caramel appletini recipe
I’m getting married in two weeks!!!!! This past weekend, I hosted 12 of my closest friends and family on a cozy fall bachelorette weekend, and we honestly had the best time. So, I want to break down the entire trip for you guys so you can recreate it or use it for inspiration! I can’t lie; I am generally a pretty good planner, and I like to think I have fun, unique vacations, and this was honestly great.
I’m sure a lot of people are curious Why Stowe, Vermont?? I feel like my feed is inundated with post after post of Miami, Scottsdale, Nashville, and Vegas bach parties. While undeniably a good time I feel like those trips can suck the life out of you. I always leave with alcohol poisoning and a blistering sunburn fighting for my life on the flight home. I wanted something relaxing and rejuvenating where we could sip wine, go hiking, play board games, and have some fun at bars without ending up blackout drunk. Stowe is an hour's flight from NYC, which is perfect for my group since most of them are on the East Coast right now. Airbnb was 40 minutes from the Burlington airport of a 6 hour drive from NYC. We got a stunning place that slept 12 people with a private lake, BBQ, hot tub, and gorgeous hikes minutes away. We splurged, hired a private chef (which I cannot recommend enough), and had the most amazing relaxing weekend. I cannot imagine a more perfect bachelorette. Let’s get into exactly what we did.
Where we stayed
Our Airbnb was about 10 minutes away from downtown Stowe. The owner is an absolute sweetie. His name is Jim, and he was so friendly and accommodating. We coordinated with the private chef so she showed up before us and had drinks and snacks ready upon arrival. The Airbnb comfortably slept the entire group. There was a great outdoor space with lots of cozy areas to sit and chat by the fire and eat dinner outside. I would absolutely book again!
Transportation
I recommend booking transit decently ahead of time since Uber and Lyft are limited. We used Neil’s Transportation. Neil is incredibly kind and just overall an amazing human in addition to being a good driver. They do airport pickup, dropoff, and car service to wineries, which was THE BEST. They picked our entire group up from the Airbnb, waited while we did our tasting, and then drove us home with a quick pit-stop for baked goods. The winery we went to was about an hour away but the drive is stunning so I’d say it’s worth the travel.
Activities
Cold Hollow Cider Mill
This place apparently went viral on TikTok. It’s a very cute small-town cider-tasting bakery/souvenir shop. They have a delicious restaurant with apple cider donuts and unexpectedly delicious chili. They have a covered outdoor area, and we all ordered apple cider flights and had a late lunch. It’s very kid-friendly as well.
Stowe Pinnacle Hike
This is a super popular hike in the area, and for good reason! It’s a nice, long, gentle, sloping uphill hike with stunning fall foliage. I’d say it’s probably a two-hour hike all in; it’s definitely longer than Alltrails says. It’s super funny because Vermont parents seem to really love making their children hike, and we passed multiple four-year-olds in full hiking gear spending their Saturday on a two-hour uphill hike.
Shelburne Vineyard
This is the cutest little vineyard. They have an assortment of natural wine and cider flights and little snacking boards you can order to accompany them. They also have frozen cider slushies. We sat outside on the covered patio, and each had about two flights over 2 hours and then spent about 30 minutes taking Instagram pictures in the gorgeous vineyard. They also allow minors and it was quite kid-friendly
Drinks
We had these caramel apple martinis at Lower Bar in Stowe and it was one of the best appletinis I’ve ever had. I never even knew caramel vodka existed but it is DELICIOUS. I spent this week testing recipes to make a copycat caramel apple’tini and it’s a perfect fall cocktail. We also met some CHARACTERS at that bar. TBH it was a great hangout spot.
Food
I have never hired a private chef before and never really even thought it was in the realm of possibility if I wasn’t ultra-wealthy. Having learned A LOT about private chef work in the past few months, I have come to realize that’s not the case and it’s not nearly as expensive as you’d think and in my opinion so so worth it. We hired Chef Moochie (Meghan) from Boston and she literally made the weekend. We did not clean ONCE. We had healthy and delicious meals served for every meal for the whole group, along with delicious fresh drinks. She did all of our grocery runs, made snacks, cleaned and was a joy to be around. I cannot recommend her enough. You don’t realize how much stress and mental energy you devote to thinking about what you’re going to eat, cook, and clean. Having someone else in charge of all of that takes such a mental load off and makes the trip significantly more enjoyable IMO. The cost per person ended up being about the same as if we ate out each meal. The Airbnb is perfectly set up, so there’s a private bed and bath next to the kitchen that’s great for a chef to stay in as well.
This trip was so amazing and relaxing I could not have imagined a more perfect bachelorette. I came home from the trip feeling relaxed and refreshed. I honestly can’t recommend Stowe enough and hope you enjoy if you visit!
Vermont is awesome, lived there for 20 years and raised my kids. In Texas now and let’s just say things might be bigger in Texas but not necessarily better. Especially when it comes to fall!
Like Holly, I raised my kids in VT. I lived there for 23 years and miss it every day (although now I live on the north island of New Zealand, which is a pretty darned good substitution for VT!). Stowe is gorgeous! And if you want an amazing tattoo while you're there, visit Ryann at World Famous Monkey House Customs. 😉 I loved looking through your photos and seeing so many familiar things, suck as Cold Hollow Cider Mill and Shelburne Vineyard. Congratulations!
